Connecting Founders is a Bangkok-based organization focused on promoting women-led businesses in Southeast Asia. Our goal is to inspire women entrepreneurs to dream big and be at the forefront of their industries, and encourage a women-supporting-women movement in the region.
Through our photodocumentary series, we tell the stories of how female founders have launched and built their businesses so that their experiences can inspire others and nurture the next generation of women entrepreneurs in Southeast Asia. Every week we feature a new female founder from either Thailand or the Philippines. Our stories are about what motivates them, what challenges they face, what they would change, what they have learned on their journeys, and what advice they would give to aspiring entrepreneurs.
At the same time, we are also creating a library of authentic images of powerful businesswomen and ambitious new women entrepreneurs from Southeast Asia, breaking down stereotypes and giving more visibility to a group that has so far been under-represented in global media and advertising – “You can’t be what you can’t see” (Lean In).
Through our Women in Business Series, we create a space where women entrepreneurs can share experiences, learn from each other, and build valuable connections. It is about creating new role models, giving more voice and visibility to women entrepreneurs, and nurturing the next generation of women leaders.
Women entrepreneurs make up roughly 50% of businesses in Thailand, Philippines, and Indonesia and are important drivers of GDP and job growth. By promoting women-led businesses, our goal is to contribute to higher and better economic growth in Southeast Asia – higher for acting on the high potential of women-led businesses and better for being more inclusive.
